HIFASS, having recognized the constraints of poor funding, manpower shortages, decaying infrastructure, obsolete equipment has decided to intervene to build capacity into the health needs of the Nigerian Military. This is essential in these times when our troops are actively involved in peace-keeping all over the world. Furthermore the threats of natural disasters due to global warming, of emerging infections, of bio-terrorism, political crisis and poverty are making the world less safe and secure for us all.
HIFASS is desirous of building capacity by assisting in sourcing resources from international donor agencies, governments and other militaries. The objective of this initiative is also to access the civilian population living within and around the barracks making available to them quality health care from the military health care facilities. By building capacity and partnership across board, we intend to introduce this initiative to other African Militaries thereby promoting military to military cooperation in the spirit of the African Peer Review Mechanism.
Finally at the international level especially in Africa our structured intervention coupled with a well disciplined and dedicated health corp would be used as a tool for public health diplomacy.
